ANOTHER VIEW OF MALLELA FALLS

THE FALLS ARE LOVELY,DARK AND DEEP.
BUT I HAVE PROMISES TO KEEP,
AND MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP,
AND MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP.
[with apologies to Robert Frost]

THE CLIMB

The approach to the waterfall is by an eight kilometer kutcha road ,cars can negotiate;at the end of the drive there are two fifty steps to the foot of the falls;the steps are gentle in height and were formed by the Forest Depatment;under the ecodevelopment scheme of local people's participation the management of the area has been handed over to a village committee;the committee collects Rs.20 per vehicle as toll tax to maintain the road and the area around the falls, providing guides to visitors.
